“HAPPINESS IS NOT JUST A MEMORY”
SYNOPSIS
Natalie and her 10-year-old son Danny reside on the outskirts of a small rural town, striving to maintain a peaceful life. After escaping a violent and abusive relationship with the town's psychotic sheriff—a situation that left Danny with moderate brain injuries—Natalie is resolute in protecting her son from further harm. However, in this tight-knit community, the sheriff still wields the power and continues to harass Natalie, aware that they are impoverished and trapped.
One day, a bloodied stranger with a gun and no memory of who he is shows up at their door. Natalie decides to help the injured man, unaware that he is the sole survivor of a car accident following a deadly bank heist. The town is buzzing with news of the robbery and the crash, which resulted in two fatalities, with only this stranger escaping into the woods with the stolen money. The sheriff and the FBI are determined to follow every lead to capture him.
Amid the intense, coordinated pursuit by the FBI and local law enforcement to capture the elusive fugitive, a passionate and unexpected romance blossoms between Natalie and the enigmatic stranger. The air is thick with tension and urgency as the authorities close in, yet in the midst of this chaos, Natalie finds herself irresistibly drawn to the stranger's intriguing aura. Now deeply entangled in this complex and perilous web, Natalie, Danny, and the stranger resolve to go to extraordinary lengths, navigating a maze of danger and deceit, in their desperate bid to break free and reclaim their lives.
The “Fragmented” Teaser uses stock footage, along with film clips, to give A FEEL for what this film will be.
The song “Bring On The Hurting” by musician Tim Hutchinson will be part of the film’s soundtrack.
FILM COMPARISON
We're confident that our movie "FrAgMenTed" will have domestic and international appeal among fans of independent cinema. History has proven that mainstream success often follows when an indie film gets word of mouth. Our story has all of the elements of suspenseful thrillers like MEMENTO, OUT OF TIME, UNLAWFUL ENTRY and THE TOWN, with enough twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Our heroine NATALIE KING is akin to Madeleine Stowe's Karen Carr from “Unlawful Entry”, Eva Mendes’s Alex from “Out of Time” and Susan Sarandon’s Louise from - strong, beautiful, and smart. A character that will surely draw audiences in and have them cheering for her throughout. NATALIE’S bond with her ten-year-old son DANNY adds an emotional layer as a momma bear will do whatever it takes to protect her own.
The Psychotic Sheriff SCOTT GIBSON evokes terrifying memories of Ray Liotta's Officer Pete Davis in “Unlawful Entry” and or Richard Gere’s Officer Dennis Peck in “Internal Affairs”. As the FBI draws near we have the TICKING CLOCK with Denzel Washington’s “Out of Time”.
Finally, Bank Robber MIKE BLACK struggles with memory loss after a near-fatal accident. Fans of "Memento" will spot the resemblance here, but be pleasantly surprised that he stands apart as his own distinct character.
NATALIE and MIKE’s relationship brings the heat of Raymond Avila's (Andy Garcia) and his wife Kathleen's (Nancy Travis) on-screen romance in "Internal Affairs".
And to cap it off, an intense bank robbery reminiscent of "THE TOWN" rounds out our story.
"FrAgMenTed" has found many of its main locations in the same Upstate, New York region, within 90 minutes to 2 hours away from Manhattan. Our connections in this area are strong since one of our producers was raised here and was a local sports hero. Unlike most films that come into an area and the locals find it disruptive, many will welcome us with open arms. This will work greatly to our advantage, allowing us to create a film reflected in the locations, scenery, cinematography, and production design that will fit our budget. Our half-day round trip to Manhattan assures us the schedule will not be slowed down by any equipment and/or gear issues if they are needed.
CHARACTERS
LEADS
Natalie
No nonsense Natalie and her 10-year-old son, Danny, have been through the grinder in this life. Living 7 miles outside of town, Natalie and Danny keep to themselves. Now divorced from Scott, the abusive, narcissistic Sheriff in town, Natalie struggles to make ends meet. Her biggest concern in this life is protecting her son Danny. The last straw for Natalie’s marriage to Scott, who is not Danny’s biological father, was after a beating Scott gave Danny leaving him with mild brain damage. These days a loaded shotgun is never far from Natalie’s reach, but that doesn’t seem to stop Scott from harassing and playing cat & mouse with them. When he’s not protecting his Mom, Danny is lost in his used comic-book collection where he can always be the hero.
Danny
Natalie’s 10-year-old son, Danny is Our Hero! Though Danny has slight brain damage he functions to the unknown eye as normal and maybe shy. His love for his Mom is priority one and he spends the rest of his time lost in his comic books where he can always be the hero.
Mike
Mike (Detective Kyle) goes undercover to bust a ring of bank robbers. He gets in deep with them and finds himself in the middle of a robbery where a bank employee is killed. After they flee the scene, a confrontation occurs in the car with Mike and the two main robbers. Shots ring out on this desolate road in the Catskills Forest of Upstate New York leading to a major crash. Both bank robbers are killed in the crash and Mike is left with a bullet wound and full memory loss. After escaping the wreck, he retrieves the duffle bag of money and disappears into the woods, eventually coming upon Natalie & Danny’s rundown house on the outskirts of the woods.
Sheriff Scott
Sheriff Scott is the real antagonist in this film. He runs the small town however he chooses. The Sheriff was married to Natalie for a brief time. Danny is not his biological son, but Danny’s slight brain damage came from a beating by Sheriff Scott. The Sheriff continues to taunt Natalie and her son, because he can.

LOCATIONS
Roscoe, NY
A great location to shoot the film would be in Upstate, NY in and around the town of Roscoe, otherwise known as “The Greatest Fishing Town”. Roscoe is located just over 2 hrs northwest of New York City.
Besides the fact that this small country town has the perfect look and feel, one of the biggest things we have going for us in having this production there is that co-producer Lou Farragher grew up in this town. It also doesn’t hurt that Lou was a local sports hero in basketball and football for the town of Roscoe. Lou knows EVERYONE in town, so they will welcome this indie film with open arms.
Lou is the cousin of Rob Reilly as well as the other half of cineMOOK films. Rob and Lou have shot several productions in and around the area.
Crystal Lake, NY - We also have full access to 14,000 acres of private property in Crystal Lake, NY, which is is located one hr south of Roscoe. This would be the perfect location to shoot the opening car crash, when the character Mike is wandering lost in the woods for days, as well as the sinking of the Sheriff’s vehicle with him inside after his death.

HOUSING
There are several Bed & Breakfasts in and around the area for the actors. There are also the J&S Creekside Cabins which some might enjoy staying at. And these cabins are located directly across from the end of Main Street in Roscoe. It doesn’t get more convenient than that!
Take a look HERE
For the crew, we are thinking we’ll have them all together at the 26-room motel which is adjacent and part of the Rockland House. All rooms have tv and internet. Owners Tom and Marea Roseo have recently upgraded the motel. We can also plan our production meetings, breakfast and any fun downtime activities in the Rockland House Banquet room.
Rohman’s Inn
THE SEVEN-BAY PORCH OF ROHMAN’S Inn and Pub faces away from the rest of the unincorporated village of Shohola—its handful of homes; its post office, bank, and church; and its 25 or so other buildings. It’s as if the grand old hotel realizes how poorly it fits into this remote area in northeast Pennsylvania. Originally built in 1849, the two-and-a-half-story wood-frame building stopped functioning as an inn at least 40 years ago. But Rohman’s Pub, on the first, basement-level floor, is still a fixture for contractors and retirees who come to play pool, use the jukebox, and order freshly-squeezed screwdrivers at the 54-foot wooden Brunswick bar. “We have a good local base, anywhere from regular beer drinkers to shot drinkers,” a bartender tells me on a winter day. “Nothing too fancy schmancy.”
For more than 100 years, through different owners, iterations, and major fires, Rohman’s has somehow survived in Shohola. It was once one of dozens of hotels and boarding houses that served visitors of a long-disappeared tourist attraction called Shohola Glen, where New Yorkers came to ride the incredible Gravity Railroad and explore Hell Gate, Terror Grotto, and other natural attractions. Some of America’s most important cultural icons stayed as guests; so did survivors of a great Civil War train wreck. But today almost everything that once drew hundreds of thousands of people to Shohola is buried by forest and flood, abandoned to the elements. Only Rohman’s remains.
We can make Rohman’s Inn the Train Station where Mike tries to get out of dodge before he is eventually grabbed up by the police. The tracks are only for freight but no one will ever know.
If possible, we need to add a scene in this bar with those awesome bar stools and the four-lane, bowling alley where you rack your own pins.
Ghost Town - Parksville, NY
Located in the town of Liberty, New York, Parksville garnered substantial attention at the turn of the 20th century with the establishment of The Ontario & Western Railway (O&W). The O&W provided easy and direct transportation to the picturesque Catskill region, where the industry was booming and tycoons were building stately summer homes and hotels. Today, visitors to Parksville will find a quiet, withered town of mostly abandoned buildings.
This location certainly goes a long way to show a struggling area. When Mike is wandering for days in the woods he could happen upon this abandoned town, before eventually landing at Natie and Danny’s front door. Their home, which also shows their financial difficulties, is on the outskirts of the main town.
