Rob Reilly
Rob Reilly, a passionate storyteller with a meticulous eye for detail, stepped into the world of moving images in 1994. Originally hired as an assistant producer, he quickly redefined his role, becoming the company’s full-time editor after a year and a half. His writing, directing, editing, and producing journey would go on from there.
Rob has directed and edited films, commercials, music videos, and promotional videos. His corporate client list includes Sony, Fuji, Sub-Zero & Wolf, Kohler, Dwell Magazine, NYC-DEP, NYC-DOT, NYS Parks & Recreation, AECOM, and the Holocaust Museum.
In 2003, Rob’s debut indie feature film “Back To Manhattan” premiered to a sold-out crowd in Greenwich Village. The film would win awards and audience praise on the film festival circuit, as well as a 2-page article in PC Magazine.
After years of only editing his own creative work, in 2017, Rob began offering his skills to edit both feature-length and short films for fellow creators, in addition to crafting film trailers. His cineMOOK mantra, "Bleed On What You Love," is ingrained in his identity.
And yes, he's mistaken for Virgin Airlines owner Richard Branson on a daily basis.
THe Ride…
Rob Reilly entered his first editing suite in 1994. While observing a freelance director/editor expertly cut a commercial, Rob realized his life was about to change forever. Hired as an Assistant Producer, he received a set of keys to the Ad Agency and was told, "Rob, you can learn as little or as much as you want. It’s up to you."
At the time there were only 2 NLE workstations out there, the Avid and the Imix Video Cube. The company that hired Rob had the Imix so that’s where his editing journey began.
From 1994 to 1998, Rob dedicated himself to mastering editing and post-production. He taught himself Adobe software and web design, spending almost every evening and weekend in the editing suite. His dog, Mookie, was a regular companion during these late hours.
After a year and a half, Rob was promoted to Full-time Editor, and by 1998, he had advanced to Producer, Lead Editor, and Head of Multi-Media.
From 1998 to 2000, now comfortable in the rhythm of post-production, Rob focused his energy toward the arts of directing and writing. He immersed himself in the world of filmmaking with fervor. The staff at his neighborhood video store, along with those at Blockbuster and Barnes & Noble, all knew him by name.
He devoured every indie film he could rent or purchase, while also filling a bookcase on the subject. Robert Rodriguez’s “Rebel Without a Crew” became his main source of inspiration, as he concentrated on bringing his first film to life.
By mid-2001, production began on Rob's debut feature film, "Back To Manhattan”. Rob wrote and co-produced the film with his cousin/partner, Lou Farragher. He was also the director and editor, while stepping in as cameraman when necessary. Filming only on the weekends, this 2+ year journey would finally debut to an 8 pm sold-out crowd in Greenwich Village, NY. It was a night to remember!
In 2003, Rob began freelancing and teamed up with photographer Phillip Ennis. Phillip shifted his focus from still photography to video, establishing a long-term partnership with Rob. Over the following 15 years, Phillip took on the role of producer and cinematographer, while Rob was responsible for directing and editing promotional videos for clients in industries such as interior design, architecture, hotel chains, golf courses, and home theaters, along with some commercials and music videos. Eventually, they would find their way into documentary filmmaking, starting with the feature film "Light Within The Crack". They now have several more projects in progress. In 2017, Rob began editing feature and short-length films for other creators, as well as cutting trailers, designing posters, and preparing pitch decks for movies seeking funding.
Rob has several films in the works that will return him to the director’s chair in late 2025. Visit Project Page.
